  17. <p>    Many actors would willingly lose 20 lbs. or learn Swahili
  18. if it meant landing an ace role. But few would consider leaving
  19. their mates. In order to win the part of an emotionally fragile
  20. wife in the upcoming film Waterland, actress Sinead Cusack was
  21. told by her director to check out of her marriage to co-star
  22. Jeremy Irons temporarily and check into a hotel room. Onscreen
  23. the happily wedded pair play a couple plagued with problems. As
  24. it turned out, "I was a gibbering idiot during most of the
  25. shoot," says Cusack. So the separation wasn't such a bad idea.
